Grow Your Own Veg Patch
Join us on our GYO veg workshop and learn how to grow organically, for flavour and all the veg patch basics to get going at home.
This morning workshop is full of practical gardening advice using organic methods, expert demos, and a wealth of tips to get the best out of your veg patch. The day will start with a coffee in the Riverford Field Kitchen with Penny, discussing which areas you most want to learn about during the day. You will then head outside for a walk around our polytunnel and Field Kitchen Garden where Penny will talk about how we grow organically. During the day, the workshop will cover many topics and there will be many hands-on opportunities where you will sow your own seeds and you'll also be able to take some seedlings home.
Topics covered include: - Ground preparation - Crop rotation - Seed sowing - Weeding / hoeing - Harvesting
There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get advice from Penny on any gardening subject throughout the day to ensure you get as much out of it as possible.
Of course, no visit would be complete without a lunch full of freshly picked, seasonal produce from the fields around us.
At the end of the day you will also take home some seedlings which Penny has grown in advance for you so you can get going in your own garden.
