Fermentation & Seasonal Preservation Workshop
Have you wanted to try your hand at the world of fermentation? Are you a seasoned grower looking for new ways to preserve your harvest glut? If so, then this half day Fermentation & Seasonal Veg Preservation Workshop is designed for you.

Time: 9.30am to 3pm
Join The Riverford Field Kitchen head chef to develop new knowledge, skills and techniques and learn how to preserve and ferment your favourite vegetables to enjoy throughout the year. See below for the outline itinerary.
- 9.30am - Welcome to The Riverford Field Kitchen
Arrive at The Riverford Field Kitchen for refreshments and our head chef will outline the plan for the day.
- 9.45am - Introduction to Fermentation
Introduction to the basics and science of fermentation. Understand the different types of vegetables you can use and the techniques for preparation. Learn about the flavours and spices you can add and try some of The Riverford Field Kitchen's favourite ferments. Get hands-on and create two different ferments to take home with you.
- 11.30am - Pickling & Preserving Demo
Introduction to different techniques and recipes for pickling and preserving vegetables. This section will be demo led. As with all recipes featured on the course, guests will receive detailed handouts to help make these pickles at home.
- 12.30pm - Lunch
Enjoy a three-course organic lunch.
- 3pm - Event Close
