Artichoke Workshop with Guy Singh-Watson
Join Riverford founder Guy Singh-Watson on a walk, demo and lunch in celebration of one of his favourite vegetables; the mighty artichoke.
Since founding Riverford, Guy has spent a 25-year obsession with artichokes. In the UK, established crops of globe artichokes are in season in June and July, and to celebrate their arrival, we invite you to join us for a morning learning about how to grow, cook and enjoy this prickly relative of the thistle.
Date: Wednesday 10th June, 2020
Time: 9am to 3pm
The day will be broken into three parts:
- 9am - the day will begin by meeting in The Riverford Field Kitchen car park, ready to get into cars and follow Guy on a short drive to visit some artichoke fields. Here Guy will talk about the process of growing and nurturing this bitter sweet veg.
- 10am - head back to the restaurant where Guy will guide you on how to get hands-on to create a jar of preserved artichokes to take home with you at the end of the day.
- 12.30pm - no visit to The Riverford Field Kitchen would be complete without seasonal organic veg-packed lunch. Guests will finish off their day with an artichoke themed lunch and we will also provide you with some artichoke recipes to take home at the end of the day.
- 3pm - event close
Please note that guests will need to suitable footwear and wet weather gear in case the heavens open. As you might be climbing stiles and walking across muddy fields, guests will need to be reasonably mobile.
